Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark was named the WNBA Player of the Year at the 2025 ESPY Awards. With this, she became one of the youngest players to have received the accolade. The Award marks a historic moment in Clark’s season in the WNBA filled with challenges and hardships. However, it also depicts that her impact and influence on the sport refuses to stop growing.
Clark, who was traveling with the Indiana Fever, wasn’t able to present at the ceremony to receive the honor in person. Several ESPN analysts, including Ari Chambers, accepted the honor in absence of Clark. Notably, the former Iowa superstar has brought a revolution in the league ever since her debut in 2024. She finished her rookie season at an average of 19.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 8.4 assists per game. Currently, in her sophomore season, Clark is averaging 16.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 8.8 assists per game.
Cooper Flagg Wins Best College Athlete at 2025 ESPY Awards
Cooper Flagg, the latest NBA sensation, won the title of the Best College Athlete at the 2025 ESPY Awards. The former Duke Blue Devils star, who was selected as the first overall pick by the Dallas Mavericks in the 2025 NBA Draft, has had an electrifying and historic season at college. It only took Flagg his freshman season to establish himself as one of the most sensational players. The 18-year-old edged over Oklahoma State wrestler Wyatt Hendrickson, Cornell’s CJ Kirst and Jacksonville Jaguars rookie Travis Hunter to win the award.
The Duke sensation led his team to the ACC regular season title victory in the recent past season and earned the ACC Player of the Year as well as the ACC Rookie of the Year honors. In his only season with Duke, he averaged 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game. As Flagg became the first overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, he became the youngest top pick since LeBron James in 2003. Apart from the Best College Athlete, the youngster was also nominated for Best Breakthrough Athlete at the 2025 ESPY Awards.
