A routine traffic stop near Blue Grass Airport on July 13 escalated into a fatal incident when a suspect shot a Kentucky state trooper and subsequently fled the scene. He then carjacked a vehicle and drove to Richmond Road Baptist Church in Lexington, where he opened fire. This violent outburst resulted in the deaths of two women and left several others injured. The suspect was ultimately shot and killed by police at the scene.
The victims have been identified as Christina Combs, aged 34, and Beverly Gumm, aged 72. Two men sustained injuries—one of which is critical—while the injured trooper is reported to be in stable condition. Authorities indicate that the shooter may have had personal connections to an individual at the church. His identity has not yet been disclosed to the public.
