Reports here, unbelievable earthquake with large magnitude tsunami warning just

A significant earthquake measuring 8.2 on the Richter scale hit the Alaskan Peninsula late Wednesday, prompting tsunami alerts and heightened surveillance throughout the Pacific area. The earthquake struck at a depth of 35 kilometers, approximately 91 kilometers east-southeast of Perryville.

Tsunami sirens were activated in Kodiak and other coastal regions, leading to evacuations as a precautionary measure. The US National Tsunami Warning Center (NTWC) issued warnings for southern Alaska, encompassing the coastline from Hinchinbrook Entrance to Unimak Pass.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries following the earthquake. Alaska Governor Mike Dunleavy confirmed that the state’s emergency operations center had been activated to manage response efforts.

Initial tsunami warnings were also issued for Hawaii and Guam, but these were subsequently rescinded after evaluations indicated no significant threat to those locations.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center, in collaboration with agencies in Japan and New Zealand, began assessing the potential risks to their coastlines as well.

The US Geological Survey (USGS) recorded at least eight aftershocks following the main quake, with two of them registering above magnitude 6.0, suggesting continued seismic activity in the area.

Authorities are maintaining close surveillance of the situation and are advising residents in coastal areas to remain vigilant and adhere to official safety guidelines.
