The mystery of Charlie Kirk’s ring appearing on one finger before he was shot and another right after he was struck has been put to rest.
Kirk, 31, was shot and killed while speaking at Utah Valley University on Wednesday, having made a stop there as part of his American Comeback Tour. The conservative activist took a single bullet to the neck while seated under a tent in the school’s courtyard, with a gunshot ringing out and his head snapping backward immediately after.
The shooter used a high-powered bolt-action rifle, setting up on a rooftop about 130 meters away, with footage of the area from before and after the shooting going viral in the aftermath.
As noted above, Kirk’s ring was seen on different fingers before and after the shooting, leading to questions and conspiracy theories, including one suggesting that the video of the incident was altered by AI in an attempt to cover something up.
However, one X user has pointed out that the jewelry in question was a hinge ring that opened up on impact and appeared to be on another finger. They added a clip of Kirk fidgeting with the ring during a previous appearance.
Suspect In Custody Following Charlie Kirk Shooting
It’s reported that a suspect is in custody following the authorities’ retrieval of the weapon. Two other individuals were initially arrested but have both been released, as it isn’t believed that they have any connection to the killing.
President Donald Trump, of whom Kirk was a close ally, spoke on the killing, referring to the death as a “heinous assassination,” also ordering flags to be flown at half-staff for four days.
Tributes have poured in from politicians of both the Republican and Democratic parties, while vigils have been held across the United States. Leaders from other nations, such as Israel, Italy, and the UK, have also branded Kirk’s killing an attack on free speech.
Apart from the speculation surrounding the ring, several other conspiracy theories have emerged and will likely continue. Authorities are urging the public to avoid misinformation and to wait for verified updates.
