Syko Stu’s family has released an update on the wrestler following a violent attack by MMA fighter Raja Jackson on Saturday night.
The incident, which occurred during a KnokX Pro Wrestling event in Los Angeles, was streamed live on Kick. Clips have gone viral, prompting widespread outrage.
Stu, whose real name is Stuart Smith, was punched over 20 times after getting slammed to the mat by Jackson. The brutal assault was not scripted or expected, and it took several wrestlers to pull Jackson off the unconscious performer, who was hospitalized shortly after failed attempts to revive him.
Raja, the son of former MMA star Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, is believed to have reacted to Stu smashing a drink over his head, although they sorted it out before the latter’s match. Rampage was not at the event, but his reaction said it all after he saw the attack online.
Syko Stu Was Choking On His Blood And Teeth
According to medical reports, the wrestler sustained multiple facial fractures and was choking on his own blood and teeth before he was stabilized. Fellow performer Doug Malo told USA Today that Smith was “awake and talking” as of Sunday evening, but he remains under observation in a critical care unit.
His brother, Andrew, has also thanked fans for their support, noting that Stu is “Stable but in critical care,” warning against illegitimate fundraising pages as the family has not set any up.
Another relative said the “case was not as positive as I had hoped,” but added, “I know and hope he will make a full recovery.”
The LAPD has not filed formal charges against Raja Jackson. However, sources claim that charges of attempted murder and aggravated assault are being considered.
Smith’s struggles with PTSD from his time in the U.S. Army came to light after the assault, making the situation even more heartbreaking.
We wish him a speedy recovery.
