Bradley Wilson, 34, has been charged with attempted kidnapping after he allegedly tried to abduct a girl from a Safeway in Littleton, Colo. over the weekend
He allegedly grabbed the girl and tried to walk her out of the store, police say, after asking her grandmother: “Could I borrow your child?”
Wilson then allegedly returned just a few minutes later and tried to take the girl away a second time, prompting store workers to call deputies
A Colorado man is accused of trying to abduct a young girl twice within the span of just a few minutes.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office announced that 34-year-old Bradley Mikel Wilson had been arrested over the weekend and charged with attempted kidnapping.
That charge stems from an incident that occurred on the morning of June 21, when Wilson allegedly grabbed an 8-year-old girl while she was out grocery shopping with her grandmother, the JCSO said in a news release.
Wilson allegedly approached the grandmother while she was in the produce section of a Safeway in Littleton, according to the release, and asked her: “May I borrow your child?”
The JCSO alleged in the release that Wilson then took the girl by the shoulder and began to walk her out of the store.
Wilson did not make it out of the store, however, as the girl managed to break free and run to her grandmother after the woman began to yell at him as he tried to flee with the child, according to the release.
He then left the store, but not for long, according to the release, which claims that Wilson “quickly reentered and tried to take the girl again.”
Staff at the store yelled at Wilson the second time he allegedly tried to take the girl, and also notified law enforcement.
Deputies arrived at the store to learn that Wilson had already left the scene, but they managed to apprehend him later that day.
Wilson was booked into the Jefferson County Detention Facility just before midnight on June 21, where he remains ahead of his first court appearance June 23.
