Jenny Boelter, wife of Minnesota shooting suspect Vance Luther Boelter, was taken into police custody for questioning during a traffic stop in Onamia, Minnesota, on Saturday, June 14, around 10 a.m., according to multiple reports.
Authorities reportedly found a firearm, ammunition, passports, and a sum of cash inside the vehicle, which was parked outside a convenience store. Jenny was behind the wheel at the time, accompanied by three family members, 5 Eyewitness News reported, citing law enforcement sources.
Although she was not formally arrested, Jenny was detained for questioning. The New York Post confirmed her role as the driver during the stop.
A witness told 5 Eyewitness News that approximately a dozen police units swarmed the scene and remained there for two to three hours. The exact reason for the traffic stop has not yet been made public.
Authorities are still searching for 57-year-old Vance Boelter, who is accused of opening fire on Minnesota lawmakers and their spouses while pretending to be a police officer.
The shooting occurred on the morning of Saturday, June 14. According to officials, Boelter allegedly posed as law enforcement before shooting State Representative Melissa Hortman, 55, Speaker of the House, and Senator John Hoffman, 60, both Democrats. Hortman and her husband, Mark, were killed in the incident, while Senator Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, survived.
Later that day, law enforcement named Boelter as the suspect during a press conference and appealed to the public for help in locating him. PEOPLE contacted the Brooklyn Park Police Department for a statement on June 14 but has not received a response as of yet.
