Tyler Robinson is said to have made jokes about the FBI’s manhunt following the killing of Charlie Kirk.
Kirk was fatally shot on Wednesday while speaking at Utah Valley University, with his shooter escaping on foot. The FBI later released two grainy surveillance images, which Tyler reportedly joked about with his friends via Discord, claiming the photos were of his “doppelganger,” per the New York Times.
One friend tagged him in a post showing the images, writing “wya” (where you at) along with a skull emoji. The 22-year-old then claimed the lookalike was trying to get him into trouble.
“Tyler killed Charlie!!!” someone else joked in the group chat, which is said to have had 20 people.
Tyler Robinson Warned About Going To McDonald’s In Flippant Texts
Another user suggested turning Robinson in and claiming the $100,000 reward.
“Only if I get a cut,” he shot back.
“Whatever you do, don’t go to a McDonald’s anytime soon,” someone else warned in an apparent reference to Luigi Mangione, who was arrested at one of the fast food joints following the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.
Robinson joked that he should “get rid of this manifesto and exact copy rifle I have lying around.”
“I heard the ammo had somethin about trans stuff on it, but they aren’t releasing photos or exact quotes,” he also wrote. “And also the claim wasn’t backed by the official FBI, just some dude in the briefing room.”
“I’m actually Charlie Kirk, wanted to get outta politics so I faked my death, now I can live out my dream life in Kansas,” he added.
Discord, however, has denied that its platform was used to plan the shooting.
