The Cleveland Browns cut quarterback Tyler Huntley this Sunday in a move everyone knew was coming.

Cut season is on in the NFL as teams look to finalize their 53-man rosters ahead of the upcoming campaign.

Huntley, who joined the team to provide additional preseason depth while Kenny Pickett and rookie Dillon Gabriel recovered from injuries, is the one QB-room casualty, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

“Browns are releasing quarterback Tyler Huntley, per source. Cleveland has been planning to keep its other four QBs — Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders — on its 53-man roster,” Schefter reported on Sunday afternoon.

Tyler Huntley The Odd Man Out Despite Game-Winning Heroics

Despite Huntley’s heroics in a game-winning drive in Cleveland’s preseason finale against the Los Angeles Rams, the Browns are moving forward with Deshaun Watson, Joe Flacco, Shedeur Sanders’ Pickett, and Gabriel.

Sanders recently predicted he would make the 53-man roster, yet his brother Shilo wasn’t so lucky as he got cut by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers today.

Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski and GM Andrew Berry have both outlined the value all of the remaining quarterbacks bring to the team, placing emphasis on roster flexibility and the rookies’ developmental potential.

Huntley should attract interest from teams that are still trying to fill out their QB depth chart ahead of the season following his exit from Cleveland.
